A very important story regarding the misrepresentation of official certification on products.
The Halal Food Authority (HFA) have accused Kosher food supplier Hermolis; of displaying their Halal logo on products despite the company’s accreditation having expired.
The HFA said Hermolis’ certification expired on 31 July 2014. The Kosher food specialist supplies caterers, travel, retail, banqueting, airlines, public sector, hotels and schools.
An HFA spokesperson said: “We would like to make it clear that we do not condone the improper use of our logo in any shape or form, as it is our intellectual property and registered trademark; improper logo use also encourages misrepresentation.
“Hermolis was made aware in January 2014 that its Halal certification would cease to exist (with the HFA) in July 2014 and were asked to communicate this to its customers and clients – we have been made aware that this communication has not been carried out.
“HFA no longer certifies any Hermolis products. Products that have been marketed as Halal with the HFA logo depicted on it by Hermolis after 31 July 2014 are not guaranteed to be Halal by us as a certification body.”
